Christopher Noble

Long established printmaker and painter, and formerly a director of the Lion Gallery, Christopher Noble is featured alongside Richard Mather in this October's exhibition.

As a printmaker for nearly 30 years Christopher  has explored the many fleeting aspects of his surroundings and now uses digital printmaking techniques to investigate the relationship between photography, printmaking and drawing.

The subject matter ranges from observation of the landscape to working with the human figure, our place in nature and the subtle tricks memory plays on us all.

Christopher enjoys the challenge of capturing the insubstantial permanently in ink. The new processes mean that images are more experimental but still produced in small, high quality editions using only the best materials for lightfastness on acid free papers. He still thinks of himself as a craftsperson because printmaking is a democratic process; accessible and literate; domestic and affordable.
